Friends of Grenoside Park has had a busy and exciting start to 2026!

Last year, after consulting with our wonderful community, we focused on refining plans for the brand-new playground at Grenoside Park. We’re delighted to share that Sheffield City Council has now finalised the designs following our feedback. Please take a look at the plans.

What's happening in 2026?

This year is all about fundraising so we can break ground on the project — starting with Phase 1, which will introduce a fantastic new toddler play area, along with improved pathways and additional seating. If funding is secured, we’re hopeful work could begin in the first half of 2026.

The Council has submitted a major funding application to the Veolia Community Fund, and if successful, we’ll be a long way toward reaching our Phase 1 target. Alongside this, we’ve submitted several smaller funding bids to help bridge the remaining gap.

How you can help!

Community engagement is vital to making this project a reality. Please follow and interact with us on social media — it’s one of the best ways to spread awareness, share ideas, and stay up to date with progress. It’s also a great place to ask questions or tell us what you’d love to see in the new playground.

After what has sometimes been a long and challenging journey, we’re thrilled to finally have confirmed plans in place. However, construction costs are high, and we’re working toward a six-figure fundraising target for Phase 1 alone — with Phases 2 and 3 still to come.
