FOGP has been set up with the aim of updating the playground equipment in the park. Our goal is to provide a more modern and engaging playground that offers interesting play which is inclusive to all.
Did you know? some of the play equipment is 30 years old. with the last update being 13 years ago (2013)!

Our Goal and Vision
why fogp started?
The project is run alongside Sheffield City Council (“SCC”). SCC own the playground and install and maintain all the equipment in it. Following years of budget cuts SCCs budget for new playground equipment is zero. FOGP are essentially acting as a fundraising group to try and raise the money for the new playground.
The equipment in Grenoside playground is very old (in some cases it's decades old) and looks really tired. In addition there is a real lack of pathways and seating in the playground. FOGPs view is that the playground does not cater well for those who are disabled. The equipment has been put in the playground, in what appears to be a haphazard fashion. There are no pathways between each piece of equipment. There is one inclusive unit in the playground but it is placed at the back of the playground and you have to get up a grass incline to get to it.
If you’ve used the playground you’ll know that moving a pram or wheelchair around it when it's muddy and wet is really difficult. This means the piece of equipment is often inaccessible to those it's meant to cater for.

Due to the overall cost of the project the plan is to try and fundraise in phases. The idea is the playground will remain open as each phase is delivered.
The plans also include provision for picnic tables and steps to the gate between the playground and the skatepark. We would keep the existing fencing. We consulted with the village, and surrounding areas, extensively before we began work with SCC to have the plans drawn up. We’ve done our best to try and listen to, and incorporate, the views of the community. Obviously there is a balance to be had between what, in ideal word we would have in the playground, and what we can achieve. That being said we think the plans do reflect our high aspirations and, if we can pull this off, will deliver a fantastic new playground for Grenoside.

Phase one
The toddler area, includes tiger mulch soft rubber flooring. The plan proposes replacing the swing frame with a mix of swings and includes equipment such as a playhouse, trampoline and moves down the existing springees and seesaw.
Phase two
Area for older children and installation of access path, would include work to level off the ground and comprises of a big swing set and a big roundabout
Phase three
Further equipment for older children includes keeping the existing climbing frame and a viper ground rope swing

My children love going to the park! They love seeing their friends after school and playing, however in comparison to other parks close by I would love to see Grenoside Park updated and more engaging for the kids.

I love meeting my friends after school in the park and in the holidays, we play hot lava. I would like to see new swings, zip wire and slide from the skate park so we can have even for fun.

The skate park fab, my kids use it loads since it opened and a big thumbs up for the picnic benches, just wish the park had the same update and bring it in line with others around.
