The Grenoside Gala: A Day to Remember

The Grenoside Gala held in June was an incredible success, bringing together residents and visitors for a day filled with joy and fun. We were thrilled to witness so many friendly faces at the event and our stall, exemplifying the strong community spirit that Grenoside is known for. From vibrant stalls to captivating performances, the gala truly showcased the talent, creativity, and unity that make our community special.

We spoke to numerous individuals at our stall regarding our project and showed off some designs that we had acquired through two playground firms, HAGGs and Sutcliffe. The plans, whilst not final designs, show the potential the playground has and we are working with the council to try and make these plans or something similar a reality; however, the process is turning out to be quite slow.

Piper, Last Year's Gala Queen: An Inspiration

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Piper, last year's Gala Queen, for her invaluable assistance with litter picking during the year in our Park. Piper's dedication to keeping our park clean and pristine is commendable, and her fundraising efforts have been greatly appreciated. Her commitment to service is an inspiration to us all, and we are grateful for her continued support.

At Friends of Grenoside Park, we are proud to have such a rich history of community engagement and we look forward to the appointment of our new Gala Queen with great anticipation. We foresee our new queen following in the footsteps of Piper, a worthy role model, and making a positive impact on our community. We therefore, congratulate the newly appointed Gala Queen and wish her all the best in her role, embodying the very spirit of the Grenoside community. We hope that our new Gala Queen will draw inspiration from Piper's commitment to service and, in turn, strive to promote the same values that make our community so special.

FOGP has become a Charity

We are thrilled to announce that Friends of Grenoside Park is officially registered as a charity. This significant milestone will provide us with enhanced opportunities to secure funding, collaborate with other organisations, and expand our efforts to further improve the park for the entire community. We extend our gratitude to everyone who has supported us on this journey, and we eagerly look forward to the positive impact we can create together.

Volunteering Day: Virgin Media Team Lends a Helping Hand

Our upcoming volunteering day promises to be an exciting and transformative experience for Grenoside Playground. We are grateful to the dedicated team from Virgin Media, who are using some of their volunteering days to support of our project. On this day, they will be focusing their efforts on undercoating and painting the fence around the playground area. Their commitment to the community and willingness to contribute their time and expertise is truly commendable. We express our sincerest gratitude to the Virgin Media team for their support and collaboration.

Moving Forward, Together

As we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Friends of Grenoside Park's new committee in May 2023, we felt a sense of accomplishment for the great work that had been achieved, despite appearances. We had been successful in acquiring funds which enabled us to expand the playground and acquire toddler sensory boards. As we continue to work towards improving Grenoside Playground and strengthening our community, we invite you to be part of this effort. Whether it's supporting us through community events, or simply spreading the word about our project, your support is vital. Any contribution, no matter how small, goes a long way in creating a better park and a stronger community. Your support is greatly appreciated.
