FOGP NEWS

who are fogp?

Well we thought it was time to introduce ourselves. Friends of Grenoside Park (FOGP), set up in May 2022, was formed by five local residents with the initial goal of raising money to upgrade the park’s play equipment.

We are all in agreement that Grenoside park could be an exciting and vibrant part of our community but currently, the play equipment is greatly in need of an update. The swings, roundabout and toddler climber are all more than 30 years old and much of the equipment and flooring is visibly old and tired.

“We are looking forward to exploring new ideas for the park with Grenoside families and we’d encourage people to complete our survey to give us their views. We have already had over 200 responses which is great, but the more responses we can get the better. The responses we have received already show that local residents are very keen for the playground to be updated and to help with the project. It’s clear from the responses that some families are going to other playgrounds in Sheffield, as they feel those playgrounds have better and more modern equipment. We hope that any improvements we make will mean that people in Grenoside and the surrounding areas use the playground and it helps to build on our existing community spirit ”

The group hopes to continue fundraising to improve other areas of the park in the future and is engaging with Sheffield City Council representatives to find opportunities for accessing funding.

We would not be able to even start this project if it wasn't for the support of our local community and businesses. We could not accomplish our goals or vision without the help of supporters like you. So we thank you for your time and donations. Let make Grenoside playground and park the best it can be!
