Can we start this newsletter by wishing all our supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The Christmas spirit has well and truly reached Grenoside. The beginning of the month saw the Christmas Tree Festival take place in the church. We were proud to display our tree with our personalised decorations. Our theme for this year was “Mrs Claus and her four elves” and was designed by our social media officer Phil Brooks. We hope you were able to attend the event, vote, and take a candy cane from our tree! We are so pleased to be one of the beneficiaries of this years Christmas Tree trail.

As we approach the start of 2023, we've taken some time to reflect on what 2022 brought for FOGP. It has been a busy year! We have only been running since May, but with the support of our wonderful community, we have made significant headway in beginning the process of renovating the playground. We had such a fantastic response to our survey, it gave us a real idea what people wanted to see in the playground. We are now working with a couple of playground equipment companies to see how these ideas can be made into reality and are starting to put some draft plans together. We have also started a dialogue with Sheffield City Council about how to really start to get this project off the ground and hope that over next year our working relationship with them will continue to grow and in turn the project will continue to gain momentum.

You may have seen some work being carried out in the playground at the beginning December 2022. This work is to extend the playground perimeter and tarmac the new area. Don’t worry we have noticed the new fence is a different colour to the one that is already in place and we are planning to have a day in the spring where we paint the fence to freshen in up and make sure it all matches.

We are excited to see what 2023 will bring for FOGP, we will continue to work on the project and know we will have the support of the community. We will continue to update our social media channels on a regular basis, so please check back to see what we are up to.
